Storefront engineering

Custom themes that convert — and don't rot.

Most Shopify stores are running an off-the-shelf theme with five years of accumulated edits no one understands anymore. We replace that with a hand-built Online Store 2.0 theme — sectioned, accessible, and indexed for search. Or, when the brief calls for it, a headless storefront on Hydrogen. Either way, we ship something your marketing team can ship from too.

Methodology

How we approach the work.

Not principles for principles' sake — these are the practices that decide whether we ship something good or something we'd be embarrassed by.

01

Audit before we touch a line

We benchmark Lighthouse, INP, accessibility, and SEO on your live store before scope is locked. Every theme we ship has to beat the baseline by a target we agree on up front.

02

Section-driven, marketer-first

Sections are designed for the team that ships campaigns daily. We name them like marketers do, not like devs. The CMS becomes a competitive advantage, not a wiring diagram.

03

Performance as a first-class concern

We budget JS, CSS, and images per template. Render-blocking resources are eliminated by default; third-party scripts go through a tag-loader audit. We tune until LCP is below 2.0s on 4G.

04

Accessible by default

Color contrast, focus states, keyboard navigation, prefers-reduced-motion, semantic landmarks — checked in CI on every PR. WCAG 2.2 AA isn't a bolt-on; it's the baseline.

05

Tested under real load

Before launch we mirror your live traffic patterns against the staging build. Cart, checkout, product detail — instrumented with synthetic journeys. We don't wait for Black Friday to find out the gallery breaks at 50 RPS.

FAQ

About this service.

The questions partners actually ask before kicking off this kind of work.

Sometimes. We do a paid 1–2 week audit to assess theme health. If the bones are good we refactor; if not, we rebuild. We won't extend code we can't stand behind.
